On February 19th, 2015 the Nanoscience Initiative at CUNY's Advanced Science Research Center hosted it's very first multidisciplinary conference; Nanoscience NY. This was offered as a free event to nanoscience researchers in the NYC metro area. With over 100 attendees from the tri-state area, the event proved to be a huge success. Invited speakers included: James Hone from Columbia, Stephen O'Brien from CCNY, Fiorenze Omenetto from Tufts University, Rajesh Naik from AFRL, Daniel Heller from MSKCC and Elisa Riedo from Georgia Tech.
There were over 40 poster submissions entered to win a prize provided and judged by one of the event's sponsors; FEI. Dr. Daniela Kalafatovic won the prize with her fascinating poster titled: "MMP-9 responsive peptides for tumor associated formation of doxorubicin releasing nanofibres"
Our sponsors made the whole day possible. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their generous contributions to the day: Thermo Scientific, Bruker, Perkin Elmer, AJA International, and FEI.
